Connections Policy

Effective: July 21, 2025
Last Updated: September 18, 2026

Connections is for adults who want to meet people through chess in a respectful, genuine, and low-pressure way.

Connections is available only to users 18 years of age or older.

These Guidelines form part of the Okidoke Terms of Service and apply in addition to our Community Guidelines and Fair Play Policy.

1. Be genuine

Connections is for real people meeting other real people.

Do not:

  • impersonate another person;

  • deliberately misrepresent who you are;

  • use stolen or misleading photos;

  • create deceptive profiles;

  • operate an account on behalf of someone else; or

  • use Connections primarily for scams, solicitation, promotion, or manipulation.

You do not need to disclose every detail about yourself, but the identity and information you choose to present must not be deliberately deceptive.

2. Respect the other person’s choice

An introduction is not an obligation.

Someone may decline an introduction, stop responding, end a Connection, block you, or decide they are no longer interested.

Respect that decision.

Do not pressure someone to reply, continue talking, play another game, meet in person, share contact information, or continue a relationship.

3. No harassment or repeated unwanted contact

Do not repeatedly contact someone who has indicated that they do not want further communication.

This includes attempting to reach them through:

  • another Okidoke account;

  • another feature on Okidoke;

  • another person;

  • external social platforms; or

  • contact information obtained through Okidoke.

Trying to get around a block or ended Connection may result in suspension or banning.

4. No sexual pressure or coercion

Connections may lead to dating, romance, friendship, or something else entirely. That does not make sexual pressure acceptable.

Do not:

  • pressure someone for sexual conversation or content;

  • repeatedly make sexual advances after someone has shown discomfort or lack of interest;

  • request or demand intimate photographs;

  • send unwanted explicit sexual content;

  • threaten, manipulate, shame, or coerce someone into sexual interaction; or

  • use private or intimate material to control, embarrass, or threaten another person.

Consent must be freely given and may be withdrawn at any time.

5. Keep interactions respectful

Our Community Guidelines apply fully inside Connections.

Harassment, threats, abusive language, hate speech, intimidation, degrading treatment, and other abusive conduct are not permitted.

We have zero tolerance for abusive behavior.

Serious violations may result in immediate loss of Connections access, suspension, or a permanent Okidoke ban.

6. Protect privacy

Do not share another person’s private information without their permission.

Do not publish or distribute another person’s:

  • private messages;

  • photographs shared privately;

  • phone number or email address;

  • home or work address;

  • precise location;

  • identity documents;

  • intimate material; or

  • other sensitive personal information.

Do not threaten to reveal private information.

Do not secretly record or distribute private interactions where doing so violates another person’s rights or applicable law.

Respect Connections identity privacy

Connections is designed to keep a person’s Connections identity separate from their regular Okidoke identity.

Do not attempt to identify, expose, or share another person’s regular Okidoke account, username, main-profile identity, or other private account information without their permission.

7. Meeting in person

Okidoke does not conduct background checks on every Connections user and cannot guarantee the identity, intentions, or behavior of people you meet through the service.

Use your own judgment when deciding whether to meet someone.

If you meet in person, consider meeting in a public place, telling someone you trust where you are going, and arranging your own transportation.

Okidoke is not responsible for conduct that occurs outside the Services, but off-platform conduct may still affect a person’s access to Okidoke where it creates a serious safety concern or is directly connected to use of the platform.

8. No commercial or transactional use

Do not use Connections primarily to:

  • sell goods or services;

  • recruit customers;

  • solicit money;

  • promote paid sexual services;

  • recruit for investment schemes;

  • distribute spam; or

  • conduct fraudulent activity.

Connections is for personal introductions, not commercial prospecting.

9. One introduction does not create entitlement

Okidoke may control when, how often, and to whom Connections introductions are offered.

You are not entitled to a particular number of introductions, matches, replies, or outcomes.

Okidoke may limit, pause, or withdraw Connections access based on safety, conduct, availability, product design, or other legitimate operational reasons.

10. The first game and Connection window

Connections may use time-limited introductions and game-based participation rules.

Where shown in the product, users may be required to make a move within a specified period or complete a first game in order to keep a Connection open.

If that time window expires, the Connection and associated messaging may close.

The current rules shown inside the product control the timing of a particular Connection.

11. Reporting and blocking

If someone makes you uncomfortable, pressures you, behaves abusively, impersonates someone, or otherwise violates these Guidelines, use Okidoke’s reporting or blocking tools where available.

Reports may include relevant recent messages, interactions, account activity, or other information necessary for us to understand what happened.

Blocking or reporting someone does not guarantee a particular enforcement outcome, but we review reports seriously and in context.

Knowingly filing false or malicious reports may itself violate our Community Guidelines.

12. Enforcement

Violations of the Connections Guidelines may result in one or more of the following:

  • a warning;

  • loss of access to a particular Connection;

  • restriction of messaging or other Connections features;

  • temporary removal from Connections;

  • permanent removal from Connections;

  • suspension of the Okidoke account;

  • permanent banning from Okidoke; or

  • prevention from creating or accessing additional accounts.

Some violations may result in immediate enforcement without a prior warning.

Attempts to evade enforcement through another account may lead to additional action.

13. Connections and the rest of Okidoke

Connections is part of Okidoke.

A violation inside Connections may affect your entire Okidoke account.

Likewise, serious Community Guidelines, Fair Play, safety, fraud, or account-integrity violations elsewhere on Okidoke may result in losing access to Connections.

14. Changes to these Guidelines

We may update these Guidelines as Connections evolves.

Material changes may be communicated through the app, website, email, or other appropriate means.

If we make a material change that affects the agreement required to use Connections, we may ask you to accept the updated Guidelines before continuing to use the feature.
