1. Information We Collect

We may collect the following information when you use Okidoke.

Account information

When you create an account, we collect information such as:

  • your email address;

  • your chosen username;

  • account identifiers;

  • account creation and login information; and

  • information associated with account status, moderation, or enforcement.

Profile information

You may choose to add information to your profile, such as:

  • your name;

  • profile photos or other media;

  • a biography or other profile text;

  • links to a personal website or social media account; and

  • other information you choose to share.

Gameplay information

We store information related to games you play on Okidoke, including:

  • moves and positions;

  • game results;

  • ratings and rating history;

  • time controls;

  • gameplay timestamps;

  • matchmaking and opponent information;

  • puzzle and study activity; and

  • other information needed to provide game history, analysis, Fair Play review, and related chess features.

Messages and social activity

Okidoke includes social features such as direct messages, table and room chat, posts, comments, profiles, and other interactions.

We may collect and store:

  • messages and other content you send;

  • posts, comments, reactions, and shared game content;

  • information about tables and rooms you join;

  • who participated in a table, room, or game and when;

  • online or presence information;

  • profile views and other feature interactions; and

  • related timestamps and activity records.

Some communications may be retained or preserved when necessary for moderation, safety, user reports, enforcement, fraud prevention, or legal obligations.

Connections information

Connections is an optional feature available only to adults 18 and older.

If you enroll in Connections, we may collect information you provide specifically for your Connections identity, including:

  • your first name;

  • Connections profile information;

  • photos or media you choose to make available through Connections;

  • your preferences and enrollment choices;

  • information about introductions, responses, Connections, games, and conversations; and

  • other information needed to operate and protect the feature.

Connections is designed to keep your Connections identity separate from your regular Okidoke identity. Your regular Okidoke username and primary-profile identity are not shown through Connections unless a feature clearly indicates otherwise or you choose to share that information yourself.

Doke-AI conversations

When you use Doke-AI or other AI-powered features, we may store:

  • messages or prompts you send;

  • AI responses;

  • relevant game or account context needed to provide the feature;

  • usage information; and

  • safety or moderation signals associated with the interaction.

We use this information to provide AI features, maintain appropriate conversation context, enforce usage limits and policies, investigate abuse or safety concerns, and improve the operation of the service.

Device and usage information

We may collect technical and usage information such as:

  • device and operating-system information;

  • app version;

  • crash and diagnostic information;

  • performance data;

  • IP address and general network information;

  • feature usage and interaction data; and

  • general analytics.

We may also receive approximate location information derived from device, network, or location-related features where needed to provide relevant functionality.

If a feature requires access to more precise location information, we will request the appropriate device permission before accessing it.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use information collected through Okidoke to:

  • create and manage your account;

  • provide games, ratings, matchmaking, profiles, messaging, Connections, Doke-AI, and other features;

  • personalize and maintain your experience;

  • preserve game and activity history;

  • operate social and community features;

  • detect and investigate cheating and Fair Play violations;

  • detect, prevent, and investigate abusive behavior, fraud, spam, security threats, and other policy violations;

  • review user reports;

  • enforce our Terms of Service, Community Guidelines, Fair Play Policy, and Connections Guidelines;

  • provide customer support and respond to appeals;

  • maintain the security and reliability of the service;

  • understand how Okidoke is used;

  • troubleshoot technical problems;

  • improve features and performance; and

  • comply with applicable legal obligations.

3. Doke-AI and AI Service Providers

Okidoke uses artificial intelligence to provide features including Doke-AI characters, coaching, analysis, moderation, and related functionality.

Information sent to an AI-powered feature may be processed by third-party AI service providers, including OpenAI, on Okidoke’s behalf.

Depending on the feature, this may include:

  • messages or prompts;

  • AI responses;

  • relevant game positions or gameplay context;

  • usernames or other limited account context where necessary;

  • posts or other content submitted for moderation; and

  • technical information required to provide the service.

We use third-party providers only as necessary to operate these features and subject to the applicable agreements governing their processing of data.

We do not share Doke-AI conversations with advertisers.

4. Other Third-Party Services

We use service providers that help us operate Okidoke.

These may include:

  • Expo for mobile application infrastructure and related technical services;

  • AppsFlyer for analytics and attribution-related functionality;

  • OpenAI for AI-powered features and moderation; and

  • hosting, database, authentication, email, infrastructure, security, and other technical providers as needed to operate the service.

These providers may process information on our behalf only as necessary to provide their services to Okidoke.

We do not sell your personal information or share it with third parties for targeted advertising.

5. Moderation, Safety, and Fair Play

Okidoke uses automated systems and, where appropriate, human review to help maintain a safe and fair platform.

Content and activity may be reviewed or analyzed for purposes including:

  • detecting abusive, hateful, threatening, sexual, fraudulent, or otherwise prohibited content;

  • investigating user reports;

  • enforcing our Community Guidelines and Connections Guidelines;

  • detecting cheating and other Fair Play violations;

  • protecting users and the integrity of Okidoke; and

  • complying with legal obligations.

Automated moderation may occur when content is submitted or while activity is taking place.

Human review may occur when needed for reports, appeals, safety, Fair Play investigations, enforcement, troubleshooting, or legal compliance.

6. Reports and Safety Records

When a user submits a report, Okidoke may preserve relevant recent activity needed to understand and investigate what occurred.

Depending on the report, this may include:

  • relevant messages;

  • table or room chat;

  • direct messages;

  • game activity;

  • participation records;

  • timestamps;

  • account information;

  • moderation history; and

  • other relevant context.

Information preserved for a report may remain available to authorized members of the Okidoke team even if the underlying conversation or temporary activity would otherwise no longer be available in the product.

We limit access to this information to people who need it for moderation, safety, appeals, Fair Play, security, or legal purposes.

7. Data Retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to:

  • provide Okidoke;

  • maintain account and gameplay history;

  • operate social and AI features;

  • protect the safety and integrity of the platform;

  • investigate reports or Fair Play concerns;

  • enforce our policies;

  • resolve disputes;

  • meet legal obligations; and

  • maintain appropriate business and security records.

Different categories of information may be retained for different periods.

Temporary chat or activity may expire from the user-facing product while limited records or relevant content remain preserved for moderation, safety, reporting, security, or legal purposes.

8. Account Deletion

You may delete your Okidoke account through the in-app settings.

When you delete your account, your account becomes unavailable through the service and we begin the deletion process for personal information associated with it.

Some information may be retained for a limited period where necessary for:

  • security;

  • fraud prevention;

  • Fair Play enforcement;

  • abuse prevention;

  • legal compliance;

  • resolving disputes;

  • preventing banned users from evading enforcement; or

  • backup and disaster-recovery systems.

Information retained for these purposes will be limited to what is reasonably necessary and retained only for as long as required for that purpose.

9. Children’s Privacy

Okidoke is not intended for children under 13 years of age.

You must be at least 13 to create an Okidoke account.

Users who are under the age of legal majority where they live should use Okidoke with the permission of a parent or legal guardian where required by law.

Connections is available only to users 18 years of age or older.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 in violation of applicable law. If we become aware that such information has been collected improperly, we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

10. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information.

These include measures such as encryption in transit, access controls, secure infrastructure, and restrictions on internal access to user information.

No system can guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect user information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or disclosure.

11. Your Choices

Depending on the feature and your location, you may be able to:

  • edit information on your profile;

  • control information you choose to share publicly;

  • block other users;

  • leave or end social interactions;

  • manage certain notification or device permissions;

  • choose whether to enroll in Connections;

  • request account deletion; and

  • contact us regarding questions about your personal information.

Additional privacy rights may apply depending on where you live.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Okidoke develops, our practices change, or legal requirements change.

We will update the Last Updated date when we make changes.

If we make material changes, we may provide additional notice through the app, by email, on our website, or through another appropriate method.
